Why Vinyl Wraps?
A wrap is large sheets of cast vinyl film, laid panel by panel and heat-formed into every curve and recess of the bodywork. Cast matters here: it's manufactured to be dimensionally stable, so once it's conformed to a mirror cap it stays there instead of creeping back toward flat the way cheaper calendered film does. Installed properly, the edges are wrapped and tucked so it looks like paint rather than a covering.
Most people arrive at a wrap rather than a repaint for the reversibility. Paint is a permanent decision on a vehicle you probably won't keep forever, and an unusual color narrows the buyer pool when you sell. A wrap comes off years later, and the paint underneath is usually in better condition for having spent that time shielded from UV and abrasion.

Is a wrap cheaper than a repaint?
Often, yes, and it's reversible. A quality wrap can cost less than a high-end respray, protects the factory paint underneath, and can be removed later to return the car to its original color.
